Find new inspiration in Honolulu’s thriving art scene, where local culture meets cutting-edge design. This seven-day residency will give you ample space to focus on your own projects, but will also set you up to collaborate with some of Hawaii’s most inspiring contemporary artists.

Please note: Applications for 2018 are now closed.

Your Workspace

Your home base will be the Surfjack Hotel, a hotbed for Honolulu’s creative types. Work from the pool alongside eclectic local art, or head back to your suite for a desk with a balcony view.

What You'll Do

Collab with local artists

POW! WOW! is a Hawaii-based global network of artists, known for their yearly festival of street art. During your residency, you’ll meet Wooden Wave, a husband-and-wife duo, and also get a tour of their creative space, Lana Lane Studios.

POW! WOW! originated in Oahu, but the collective has painted murals across Japan, Taiwan, and other cities around the world.

Get inspired by going offline

Experience the island’s natural beauty with a day trip to Oahu’s North Shore. After hitting the waves in this world-renowned surf mecca, you’ll spend the day off-roading through otherwise inaccessible parts of the island, glimpsing local wildlife and landscapes along the way.

Enjoy artfully-crafted cuisine

Each WFH residency includes a per diem to spend on food and drinks, which means you’ll get to do Mud Hen Water right. All dishes are inspired by Chef Ed Kenney’s favorite childhood foods, giving traditional Hawaiian dining a uniquely modern twist.

Learn ohe kapala from a modern master

Enjoy a private studio visit with fashion designer Manaola Yap, where you’ll see how traditional technique and contemporary culture come together in this unique pattern-making process.
